In the state of California alone, there are approximately 300,000 children diagnosed with special needs. Their numbers are growing: the recent nationwide upswing in severe developmental disorders like autism and epilepsy has been overwhelming and shows no signs of abating. Millions of dollars are spent each year to combat these disorders, but too little time and money have been allocated to the pressing issue of finding jobs and housing for the millions of special needs children that must eventually leave the school system. Government statistics show that more than 80% of these kids are unable to ever leave home—but what happens when parents become too old or sick to adequately care for their special needs dependents?

The few special needs families that make that transition to out-of-home care find that most available housing is antiquated and does not provide much of a lifestyle for their children. Special needs young adults need much more than a roof and a bed in order to thrive, they deserve the kind of purpose-driven and successful life that the rest of us are free to enjoy. With this in mind, Golden Heart Ranch® is dedicated to creating a life home for special needs people that will create a new and higher standard of living for all young adults with mental and/or physical disabilities.

Almost all parents of special needs children face the same daunting question: “What will happen to my child when I am no longer here to take care of him/her? Once admitted to the Ranch, our special needs residents may continue to live there for the rest of their lives. The Ranch will continue to provide family, exceptional care, and love to our community of residents throughout their lives.

Golden Heart Ranch is a residential, intentional community that will house our young special needs adults, in an environment that is safe, loving and productive. It is our goal to provide a harmonious setting, one that celebrates friendships and family. We will provide work and jobs thereby promoting each individuals important sense of accomplishment, which in turn is a key to spiritual growth. Golden Heart Ranch will honor the need for relaxation, fun and entertainment thereby providing the perfect combination of continued social and emotional growth.
