Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, 165221
Lauren Perlmutter is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University and her Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles. Lauren demonstrated a strong record of academic achievement at both institutions, earning exceptional academic standing in her graduate program at Pepperdine and graduating with highest honors from UCLA.
Lauren works with children, adolescents, adults, and families experiencing a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and interpersonal concerns. Her areas of clinical experience include anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), depression, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, social anxiety, panic disorder, agoraphobia, emotional dysregulation, executive-functioning difficulties, and social-skills challenges. She has trained and worked across private practice, community mental health, and hospital settings and has experience providing both individual and group therapy.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) serves as a foundation for Lauren’s clinical work. She uses evidence-based interventions while tailoring treatment to each client’s individual needs, strengths, and goals. Her approach combines insight with practical skill development, helping clients better understand the patterns contributing to their difficulties while developing more effective ways of managing emotions, relationships, behaviors, and everyday challenges.
As part of her broader clinical work, Lauren has developed particular experience helping clients with ADHD and executive-functioning difficulties. She assists clients in developing strategies for organization, time management, prioritization, task initiation, problem solving, and follow-through, while also addressing the emotional, behavioral, and relational challenges that frequently accompany these difficulties. Her goal is to help clients develop greater confidence, independence, and effectiveness across academic, professional, social, and personal settings.
Lauren’s academic and research background also informs her clinical perspective. As a participant in UCLA’s Honors Research Program, she conducted research in areas including PTSD and the intersection of diversity and mental health. This experience strengthened her appreciation for evidence-based practice and continues to inform her thoughtful and individualized approach to treatment.
Lauren brings a warm, engaging, and energetic presence to her clinical work. Her youthful and approachable style can be especially effective with children and adolescents, helping them feel comfortable and understood while allowing a genuine therapeutic relationship to develop naturally. She combines this warmth with patience, attentiveness, and strong listening skills, creating an environment that feels supportive and encouraging while still maintaining a clear clinical focus. With adults and families, Lauren brings the same authenticity and positive energy while adapting her approach to the needs and developmental level of each client.
